![]() ![]() ![]() My speaker amp must be added as a device in the Harmony app, as does my Windows PC. The devices to be controlled are my computer and my speaker amplifier. But I will cover general requirements of the configuration. I won't go into using the Harmony or Flirc configuration software, you can find that info using your favorite internet search engine. Logitech: Modifier key combinations only work when they are already in the listed functions, but modifier keys can be used by themselves.įLIRC: Modifier keys can be used in any combination you can think of, but they cannot be used by themselves. I am using both the Bluetooth keyboard function of the Logitech and of the FLIRC because of the modifier key limitations of both: Windows 10 is what I'm using, I don't know if earlier versions will work as well. FLIRC USB (I use the 2nd Generation) Universal Remote Control Receiver Required hardware to duplicate my setup (other than a Windows PC): I expect my setup to evolve over time, but this is my current configuration. There are a couple of add-ons and tweaks needed to get the most useful functions running. Recommend to export the config as a binary config file through flirc software and store it / back it up just in case to avoid future remappings. This is an outline of my setup for using a universal remote control to interact with MB. Map menu key using the "flirc_util record_api 0 101" API call through the command line utility, and quickly pressing the wanted menu button on the remote (might have to erase it before through the UI).Power button from standard power button in shield gen2 mapping template works Ok button should be mapped with ok button from the shield gen2 profile, latest beta firmware from this thread : ![]() Use settings from here except for menu / escape / ok (see below) :īack button should be mapped to the escape keyboard key. Launch flirc sotware, connect Flirc device to computer, and Follow instructions in the link above to map the correct remote keys based on full keyboard layout, not simply using the gen2 remote template. Map Play and Pause on harmony remote to the same IR play action as Shield remote doesn't distinguish between the two. (home/ return / menu / media keys, directional pad / ok etc). Map buttons in harmony mapping as desired. (some other templates may work, that is the one i used) Here are some rough notes for the future and it case it helps others : Is there a simpler way in the harmony software or in the flirc software to tell it that you want to control a shield TV pro 2019 ? haven't tried the netflix / ff / rewind etc for now. The return / home / menu buttons do nothing, even though they are mapping to a corresponding function in harmony profile and mapped to that in Flirc. Only the directional and OK buttons seem to work. tried also the latest beta flirc software 3.24.3-3.ģ) tried remapping all buttons in the flirc software to corresponding buttons from the harmony profile. What i did :ġ) tried several harmony profiles (nvidia shield, flirc shield, and a generic TV profile to remap later).Ģ) selected the nvidia shield gen2 profile in flirc software (although not sure i understand - does that only change the remote picture ? is there a way to "program" that profile directly into the remote without remapping everything manually ? ). Unfortunately i haven't had much success setting up the flirc. I have purchased a flirc gen2 to try out. I have seen that the flirc should be able also to control the SHield pro 2019 by translating IR codes from the harmony to commands sent by USB. For now i can control almost all of the shield remote buttons through the TV profile on the harmony remote thanks to HDMI CEC without the need for a flirc or anything else. I'd rather avoid upgrading the harmony since i don't want to have to charge the remote every couple days.
